Sable&Hawkes: Brand Sense.Brands are not only designed, they are described.
Thinking deeply about what brands mean, and how to communicate them, leads inevitably to language. That is one of the reasons words matter so much in brand building.
We all know a brand is not just a logo, a colour palette or a set of guidelines. It is also the words we use to define it, explain it and bring it to life.
The language around a brand helps people inside the business get on the same page. It helps teams align around what the brand stands for, how it should sound and how it should behave. Externally, it helps people understand the brand more clearly, connect with it more easily and understand why it matters.
In that sense, language is not just supporting the brand. It is helping to shape it. When the language is clear, the brand feels clearer. When the language is consistent, the brand feels more coherent. And when the language feels considered, the brand feels more credible.
This is why brand building is never just about visuals. It is also about meaning. And meaning, more often than not, begins with words.

If this is something you are thinking about in your own brand, I’d be very happy to talk.
